Tony Newhouse- Senior Pastor
My wife, Karen, and I came to First Baptist in September of 2018 after twenty-five years of serving the Lord in California. Wyoming is not new to us, as we served with Pastor Seidel in Cody years ago. We are delighted to be back in Wyoming and especially Thermopolis. I have pastored for over 38 years and I am truly enjoying serving the First Baptist family. I grew up in Indiana to southern parents, who moved north for employment. Karen was a pastor’s daughter who grew up in New York, Pennsylvania and Indiana. We met in Bible College and love serving the Lord Jesus together. We have one daughter, Kristin, who is married to David. They live in Northern California along with our four grandchildren: three boys and a girl.
Caleb Howe- Assistant Pastor
Caleb came to First Baptist Church of Thermopolis in April of 2020. Caleb is a 2020 graduate of West Coast Baptist College.
Caleb was born in Thermopolis, but grew up in in the town of Moab Utah where his father is the Pastor of Moab Baptist Church. He is well acquainted with Wyoming as most of his extended family lives in the state, and he grew up hunting in the Big Horn Basin. In July of 2020, Caleb married Makinna Higgins! Caleb and Makinna met in Bible College, and tied the knot during the middle of the 2020 Pandemic. Makinna grew up in southeastern Montana where her family raises registered Angus bulls.
Both Caleb and Makinna love the outdoors, and are passionate about the Word of God. They are excited to get their start in full-time ministry here in Thermopolis.
Harvey Seidel, Pastor Emeritus
Harvey and Lois Seidel came to First Baptist Church of Thermopolis in the spring of 1994, having spent 30 years in church planting. Pastor Seidel was the founder and director of Baptist Church Planting West.
Both Pastor Seidel and Lois grew up on the farm in Iowa, and they met in Bible college. Their first ministry was church planting in Colorado and Wyoming with Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions. They moved to California in 1983 to team up with couples starting new churches.
Bible teaching and expository preaching define the pulpit ministry of Pastor Seidel. Making the Bible both real and practical is his goal in ministry.
The Seidels have four boys, three in Wyoming and one in California. They have eight grandchildren, four boys and four girls.
